All dogs must meet the following criteria:
- Be friendly, social and healthy
- Pass our temperament test
- Be spayed or neutered if over 8 months old
- Additionally, being on heartworm prevention and flea / tick prevention is required.
- Current on vaccinations: Rabies, DHLPP & Bordatella
Vaccines:
To prevent the spread of disease while at The Dog Spot, all dogs must be current on all core vaccines or titers as dictated by the pet’s veterinarian: DHPP, Bordatella, Rabies, etc. Vaccines will be accepted up until the day of admittance; however, we recommend injectable vaccines be given at least 5 – 7 days before admittance and intranasal vaccines be given at least 72 hours before admittance to ensure the pet has maximum benefit from the vaccine. All dogs will be given a Capstar upon arrival at TDS to make sure we remain flea free.
Puppies:
Puppies can not be accepted until they have received a full series of puppy vaccines starting between 6 – 8 weeks and given every 3 – 4 weeks until 20 weeks of age. This is to prevent The Dog Spot and animals there from being exposed to parvo, a very serious gastrointestinal virus that puppies can get before they have finished a full series of vaccines.
